I wonder how many people keep appointments in the West. Here in South Africa, I have found that about half my appointments have either not materialised (people didn’t turn up), or people have been significantly late -- which is, more than half an hour. OBSERVATION: I have received people graciously, even if they have been precipitously late -- and have always had something to do in the event of their not being there. In many cases, I have been pleased that I was patient. For example, a woman failed four times to turn up for a wedding appointment. The fifth time, she turned up, and it changed her life (she got married).
