Sending to Facebook
Friends of all persuasions were very worried this week what Facebook may know about them. The answer is basically, everything that can possibly be known. See Facebook's Data Policy. I just used the simple utility nload to check my WiFi output without Facebook (top) and with Facebook (bottom). Without Facebook, my computer was sending data at 560 Bit/s. With Facebook, it was sending data at 7 520 Bit/s -- or about half a page per second. What was it sending? I didn't get a chance to check. If I have an idle moment, I might do. OBSERVATION: The biggest problem, in my view, is not what they know about me, but the environmental impact that the e-commerce boom has. See for example Delivery Now or Later?
