J was a religious refugee from North Africa, who found his way to our Church. His life had been in imminent danger. He asked me to help him, as his minister, to write up a CV. I said, “What are your skills?” He said immediately: “Milking camels!” I said: “That's not likely to take you far in Cape Town (but I put it in the CV). What else?” He said: “Trading camels! I’ve traded hundreds of camels!” He began to describe the details of a good camel deal. He explained: “Our family are nomads.” OBSERVATION: It began to dawn on me how much he had left behind to follow Christ. While I had seen him often in Church, in baggy trousers and a pullover, I hadn’t guessed at such a background.
