Minuting Problem People

There is a tendency in meetings to draw a veil over painful incidents, and to shy away from entering them into the record -- whether it be about Church staff, problem members, or problem people outside the Church. However, that can be a mistake. When finally you need to dismiss a member of staff, defend the Church against a law suit, or prove extortion and so on, you need those minutes -- even if you didn't think you needed them at the time. OBSERVATION: Besides, it is a mistake to imagine that a Church is full of pleasantries. That in itself makes for a dysfunctional Church. When I said to my late wife: "This isn't what Church is about," she said: "Yes it is."
