Something one might not think of as important to ministry -- yet I consider it mission critical in cosmopolitan ministry -- is the English that one speaks. I myself have put a great deal of effort into speaking plain English. At first, for years, I ran most of my Church services through writing analysis software, and pitched them at Grade 7 (not easy to achieve). I also listened carefully to people's conversation, and took good note of feedback -- not least feedback from my wife. Curiously, this blog provided a lot of practice in simplifying my English. OBSERVATION: I was taught a sophisticated English, so I had to give up something that I treasured.
