I sent the Presbyterians a bill on Friday. Presbyterian ministers invented "appreciable" stories about me -- alternatively, accepted other people's stories -- without checking them with me. They were adamant about it, too, and refused me the right of reply. Then the moderator deleted documents which (he said) supported their claims. A conversation with the clerk was unhelpful. Attorneys wrote that the expense of addressing this matter "would reasonably have been avoided". I kindly asked them therefore to cover the cost. A Presbyterian minister has suggested a way forward -- though given the behaviour so far, I would be surprised if it works. OBSERVATION: In my experience, where basic processes are bypassed (in this case, cross-check first, be open to reason, heed your operating procedure, and so on) there is typically something else going on.
