In Congregational Churches, all members are fully members of the Body. Some newcomers to the Church gave me a lift home once. One of them said: "We’re just newbies in the Church." I said, "There are no newbies in the Church, for me." Certainly, oldies may have a better grasp of history, or newbies may be young in the faith (and so on). But there is a spiritual reason for assigning equal value to all. We are not merely talking about their worldly rank or experience, but about something of a different order. A member becomes a part of God's plan. The Spirit Himself speaks and ministers through them. This is written into every Congregational constitution.
