Bernard Thorogood has passed away, at the grand old age of 92. He was one of the last missionaries of the Great Century (which was, in fact, more than a century). He was a missionary of the London Missionary Society, and became the first General Secretary of the Council for World Mission. I knew Rev. Thorogood as a boy. OBSERVATION: The Great Century came to a close with the Moratorium on Missions, one of the biggest Church events of the 20th Century. I witnessed that from the inside, and saw its after-effects, too. It granted autonomy to mission Churches, yet at the same time largely abandoned them.
