Unexpected Counselling

Several years ago, I took my (then) fiancée E. for a session with her academic mentor, our local Presbyterian minister -- while I sat down in the Presbyterian board room (pictured) to work on my Sunday sermon. I had hardly sat down when a young wife and mother knocked on the door, in tears, seeking counsel. Well, the minister was otherwise engaged. I said, "Please sit down," and I counselled her for three-quarters of an hour, in what was a very profitable session.
