Ministerial Integrity

A past professor of mine recently emphasised the importance of integrity in ministry. Faith would be assumed. That would not mean that one is faultless, but dependable and sincere -- and principled. Such integrity, I think, is one of the most important character traits of the effective minister -- it is what inspires support -- and one of the more disastrous character traits to be without. Unfortunately, I know a few ministers like that. Integrity, though, does not protect a minister from the "slings and arrows" of the world. Nor is failure a sign that one was lacking it. This is one of the things my postgraduate research turned up.
