Using Space

Churches can be quite rigid in the way that they deal with space. One example: I think of an elder who was outraged that a vestry was used for a youth meeting. One of my emphases in ministry -- throughout my ministr(ies) -- is to use space for ministry. So we created space for libraries -- three times. We turned an office into rental space, and a foyer into an office. We turned crowded pews into a reception space. We turned a stage into a Sunday School classroom, and so on. I am surprised how much we did this, when I survey it all. OBSERVATION: While we sometimes did it to increase a Church's income, above all, space serves the interests of ministry.
