The Ship of Prayer
I received a surprise e-mail recently: "The attached photograph is Brooke's official photograph of JW (John Williams) VII on sea trials off the east coast of England in the autumn of 1962." This was the London Missionary Society ship in the Central Pacific. I spent a great deal of time on this ship as a boy. OBSERVATION: So as not to poach the official photo, this is my own. I'm glad the ship passed its sea trials. It was notorious for its roll. It rolled so badly that water poured through those doors one sees on the deck. To this day it has the name (I think an ambiguous name) "The Ship of Prayer".
