I keep attending my old city Church -- as I did this last Sunday. There were about 20 there -- two-thirds of whom still from my ministry. The service was well prepared. The sermon was strong, although more generic than I prefer. However, the worship (the most important aspect in Congregationalism) was far from Congregational, and the spirit decidedly subdued. OBSERVATION: It is vastly different to my ministry there. I see in my mind's eye the ghosts of past joy and chaos when I go. Although the Church is constrained by the remaining Level 1 lock-down, it is not doing well -- and I predicted it. I made it plain that this was the choice that the Church was making. Search for "collage" for an impression of my last year there. "Worship" incidentally includes the Church Meeting.
