Naïve Faith in Leadership
I often encounter in ministry what I would term “naïve faith” as opposed to “mature faith”. Naïve faith is a faith in outcomes (for example, “I have faith that God will heal me”), while mature faith is a faith in the God of outcomes (for example, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him.” Job 13:15). Similarly, in the leadership literature, I repeatedly come across an attitude to leadership which would seem to come close to naïve faith: “God will give us the outcome,” rather than faith in the God of outcomes, “God will do a great work here, even through hardship.” OBSERVATION: I gave several examples of this in my Master's thesis on Transformational Leadership.
