I came close to stepping on a snake this morning, on a morning walk. It
was fairly small (maybe half a metre), and turned tail. As best I can
tell, it was a harlequin snake (gevlekte kousbandjie). These are almost -- not quite --
harmless. It was beautiful, to see such colour. OBSERVATION: But there is one similar, which is dangerous, namely the Cape coral snake (koraalslang or inkamela).
