There is something interesting about tables in the Church—both where people have taken their seats as they please, and where there is a seating plan. It reveals a great deal, I think, about a Church. Some groups are isolated—whether self-isolated, or isolated by the Church. People may be grouped by age, class, culture, gender—or not. Some may move around from table to table. Like may attract like. And so on. OBSERVATION: One sees good things and other things—and not merely social tendencies, but spiritual. The photo shows Church tables a long time ago, in Cape Town.
