Grief vs. Depression

Recently, the BBC appeared to muddle up depression and grief: "Elis and John talk to Queen guitarist Brian May about living with depression, the grief that came from losing his father and bandmate ..." In fact one may be "hit for a six" by grief, yet have no depression. I myself am an example of that. When my wife died, I was "hit for a six" by grief. My doctor regularly checked me with the Zung and Hamilton depression ratings, and there was none. OBSERVATION: I think it is a mistake to seek to merge depression and grief. They are not the same, which means one's approach to them is not the same.
