I have had many unusual counselling sessions. A particularly memorable one (this post is rated "mature") was when a bordello madam came to the Church in our morning office hours, together with one of her young prostitutes. She asked us if we could "get her head straight". Needless to say, the moral aspect of such a situation is clear -- yet the spiritual aspect is always more important than that. In fact, it is a special privilege of ministry to counsel people who need very little convincing that they need a spiritual transformation. OBSERVATION: Something seemed to change between my early ministry and my later
ministry. A lot of people seemed to lose any notion of what the Church
was about. One once used to feel ashamed to tell a vicar that one had pinched
a sprig of parsley from the neighbour's garden (not that that is what the Church is about).
