Trees vs. Household Items

This is son M, a few days ago, contemplating the planting of a tree on our country plot. Now here is something interesting. He and his soon-to-be wife L put out a Wedding Gifts List -- populated basically by household items and ... trees. The trees have been immensely popular, while the household items languish. OBSERVATION: Behind him here, one sees Australian blackwood trees, which are aggressively invasive. He is standing beside a European poplar tree, which is alien. He is seeking to replace the blackwood and poplar trees with fruit trees. Since he enjoys this so much, I am giving him (more or less) carte blanche. I do miss our forest, though, which he has greatly thinned.
