Prayer Lament

This post is a lament. I ask for prayer for my calling, and the best people can do is pray for my health. Then there is not the slightest interest in whether God has answered the prayers one actually asked for. I think it is the state of the Church in the West. Health is the cultural priority. Calling, gifting, spiritual warfare and spiritual breakthrough (and so on) are not on the radar, even if one makes this explicit. One can pray for oneself -- or seek a prayer partner. OBSERVATION: My own custom in ministry is to keep asking people what has come of our prayers, whether these are about material or (especially) spiritual things. I may go out of my way to do so, or briefly exchange words at the Church door: "How is it with our prayers?"
